President Donald Trump Monday announced his first ambassador pick for the sub-Saharan Africa region, nominating John Giordano as the next U.S. Ambassador to Namibia.

Giordano, who served until Monday as interim U.S. Attorney in New Jersey, previously served as the U.S. Representative to the United Nations during the Trump Administration’s first term.

Giordano joins a shortlist of Ambassador appointees, including Bill Bazzi named as Ambassador to Tunisia and Duke Buchan as Ambassador to Morocco, chosen so far by Trump in his second term to represent the U.S. on the African continent.
