U.S. State Department announced on Saturday it has revoked all visas issued to South Sudanese passport holders and will bar the country’s citizens from entering the United States, until further notice.

The new visa policy bar for South Sudan citizens is due to the South Sudanese transitional government’s refusal to accept its repatriated citizens from the U.S.

Speaking on the policy decision, Secretary Marco Rubio noted that while the Trump administration is prepared to review its decisions in the future when South Sudan is in full compliance with its request, for now, it is stopping the South Sudan Transitional Government from taking advantage of the U.S.

“Enforcing our nation’s immigration laws is critically important to the national security and public safety of the United States.  Every country must accept the return of its citizens in a timely manner when another country, including the United States, seeks to remove them,” said Secretary Rubio.

The move is part of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement laws that went into effect after President Donald Trump took office on January 20.
