IFC Takes Large Stake in Trustco Group Holdings to Provide Big Boost to Micro Finance

By THE AFRICA BAZAAR Staff Writer

In its continuous efforts and commitments to supporting domestic capital market development in Africa, IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is taking a stake in Trustco Group Holdings by investing $29 million (ZAR 300 million) to support student lending activities in Namibia and expand micro insurance into new countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

South Africa Looks for Better Trade Relations with Botswana, Namibia

South African President Jacob Zuma met this month with two of his counterparts from the Southern African region to push for better trade integrations between South Africa and Botswana; Namibia. Speaking last week at the inaugural South Africa-Botswana Bi-National Commission meeting, which was co-hosted by the President and Botswana’s President Ian Khama, the leaders said discussions are under way to look at how resources could be streamlined to boost trade between the two Southern African countries.
