American multinational transportation company Uber Technologies, Inc. has partnered with San Francisco-based online restaurant reservation service company OpenTable to offer customers an enhanced integrated user experience.
The companies announced on Monday they plan to jointly roll out in the coming months what they dub a “first of its kind” seamless user experience that pairs Uber’s ride-hailing and food delivery services with OpenTable dining reservation service to offer seamless transportation access and reservation options as well as membership benefits to customers in Australia, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, the U.K., and the U.S.
The new service, which is expected to roll out in phases throughout the rest of this year, will simplify booking a restaurant and transportation from both companies concomitantly and conveniently through their apps without any fuss.
“It’s a way to help people go out and get the best of their cities,” Uber Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi said in a statement announcing the new partnership.
The companies also said they plan to add more features to the service as they work together to innovate.
The San Francisco-headquartered Uber, which also has a large footprint across urban African cities, including in Ghana, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda, offered a similar service experience last September in South Africa through Uber Safari, a limited service experience that ran from October 2024 until the end of January as part of Uber’s “Go Anywhere” series of products, allowing riders in Cape Town to book unique wildlife experiences through its app.

For the series, Uber partnered with Aquila Private Game Reserve, one of South Africa‘s top game reserves to offer the safari day trip, which cost $200 per trip and included hotel accommodation.
